Rapid emergency aid in Myanmar
Strong earthquake shakes Myanmar
An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 caused severe devastation in Myanmar and Thailand on March 28.
The epicenter was in central Myanmar, near the city of Mandalay, but the tremors were clearly felt as far away as Yangon – our support center was also affected.
A few days after the devastating quake, the full extent of the disaster in Myanmar is becoming apparent. Our local SONNE Social Organisation team was active just a few hours after the quake. After a long journey, they reached one of the worst-affected areas around Inle Lake two days after the disaster. Right where the epicentre was, our courageous SONNE employees started supporting those affected.
Our fantastic SONNE team is distributing urgently needed food and clean drinking water and providing unbureaucratic emergency aid to the people affected.
