Profile of Mussie Hailu - Peace Activist
Mussie Hailu was born in Addis the capital city of Ethiopia. He studied International Relation & political science, Comparative Religion, Management and Philosophy.
Currently he represents different international organizations. Among which he serves as Representative of world Federation of United Nations Associations to the Economic Commission of Africa (ECA) and African Union (AU), Vice Chairperson of United Religions Initiative, Peace Representative of the World PeacePrayer Society, Country Director of HOPE'87 an international NGO which work to alleviate Unemployment problem, Special emissary to his majesty King Kigali V, King of Rwanda, Patron of United World College National committee of Ethiopia, Board Chair of Interfaith Peace-Building Initiative, Representative of World Citizen Association for Africa.Ambassador at lerage of The Crown Council of Ethiopia. In addition to these he also served on voluntary basis many other international, regional and national organizations as adviser & Board member.
Recently the Board of Directors of ABI appointed him to the post of lifetime Deputy Governor of the American Biographical Research Institute. He is also accorded the title " The Honorable". He is also appointed as Ambassador for Peace.
He is the recipient of the twenty-first century achievement award for his career achievements and social contribution, which was selected for permanent documentation is 500 leaders of influence designed for biographical reference and inspiration for present-day citizens of the twenty-first century, as well as future generation. His biography is on permanent record at the U.S. library of congress Washington, D.C.
He pioneered a number of goodwill initiatives like the Council of former African Heads of State for Peace, Development & Reconciliation, Declaration of Peace which is distributed worldwide during the 50th anniversary of the United Nations (This declaration was intended to encourage people to make a personal commitment to stand for global peace, human rights, environmental & animal protection, and international
cooperation), Interfaith Network in Africa, Interface Peace-building Initiative, In partnership with United Nations voluntary Office in Ethiopia he initiated "Volunteer of the Year Award" in order to create awareness on volunteerism in Ethiopia, he also initiate Goodwill Ambassador for Interfaith and Golden Rule.
He has written several articles on different global issues and gave lectures in different parts of the world on global peace, right human relationship, good leadership, the alleviation of poverty, the value of family, the role of interfaith in Peace-Building partnership, world citizenship. He has also traveled intensively in Africa, Europe, North America, middle east and the far east, advocating reconciliation, an end to war, global cooperation, peace, eradication of hunger, conciliation of debt for the third world countries, right human relationship and dialogue among civilization. He was the engine for the peace movement, which is erected at the African Union. "May Peace Prevail on Earth " is his motto in life.
He is elected, as fellow of the International Biographical Association by unanimous decision of the board sitting at Cambridge, England and accorded on in a million peace award and the title of FIBA.
For his achievements and services he gave in many
areas, he also received numerous awards, medal and certificate of Merits. He also received the first award of the Imperial Society of St.Gorge of Lalebela from His Highness Prince Ermais Sahle-Selassi Haile Selassie the grand son of the late Emperor of Ethiopia.
